Geophonies

A piece of clothing, an instrument.

Steel cones with steel needles, freely suspended in a textile mold. Crossing territories, amplifying territories. Megaphones. Sound walk, walk within the sound. In the hollow space of each cone, a radio transmitter sends out the phonic tracings out in the open, to a gallery, or nowhere.

Geophonies is a wearable gramophone used to explore macrotextures. The steel needles vibrate over the irregularities of the surface, while the steel cones amplify the sound.
